Cleca S. Martino is a group that produces food powders. Among these, there is also baking soda, a product that presents some challenges during packaging: in addition to requiring special attention during dosing, its fine powdery nature makes it prone to dispersion during filling. This can impact plant hygiene and compromise the sealing of the carton due to residual powder on the flaps before gluing. Cleca therefore turned to Senzani for a customized packaging system for this type of product.
The solution adopted is a VCM4S, a vertical cartoner with auger dosing, designed to ensure maximum precision on a single 500 g recipe, with an operating speed of 60 cartons per minute and the possibility of reaching up to 80. To meet the specific requirements of baking soda, it features a dust extraction system both in the filling area and before glue application to the upper flaps. In addition, the carton is closed by applying glue with a “minibead” pattern, a solution that guarantees maximum tightness even with particularly powdery products.
