Companies on a journey towards more sustainable packaging choices keep opting for Senzani machines. The latest success story involves Pastiglie Leone, longstanding Italian confectionery producer founded back in 1857, that, to this day, represents the best-known pastilles brand in Italy.

Pastiglie Leone’s growth over the decades can be told by looking at how the packaging of its products has evolved, with marketing choices making it more and more iconic and reflecting the company’s achievements. Today, under the ownership of Michela Petronio and Luca Barilla, development continues in line with market trends, first and foremost sustainability.

Senzani has been chosen as supplier for the new pastilles packaging line, providing the company with one of its customized vertical cartoning solutions. The VCMK specially designed for Pastiglie Leone allows to fill loose candies into completely redesigned cartons: pocket-sized, resealable, easy-to-open, still made of cardboard but without double wrapping. Undoubtedly, a big step towards sustainability for a brand known for its distinctive packaging.

The machine is now running at the company’s factory in Collegno, near Turin, in a line capable of producing up to 160 cartons per minute.
